On Monday May 16th, Engine 38 was dispatched as part of the first alarm assignment to assist Downingtown Fire Department with a building fire at the Woodmont North Apartments. Chief 45 arrived to find a three-story apartment building with fire showing from the third floor. With that report the working fire dispatch was initiated and moments after a second alarm was struck due to the amount of fire in the large building.
Engine 38 arrived on location and laid 600’ of 5 inch from a secondary hydrant and Winding Way and Gunning Lane. Engine 38’s crew stretched a 300’ attack line to the fire room and assisted the crew from Engine 46-1 with fire suppression. Crews from Engine 46-1, Engine 38 and Engine 47-2 were able to make a quick stop on the fire.
Luckily, there were no injuries as a result of the fire. Station 38 was released from the scene a few hours later. Photos courtesy of IrishEyez Photography and Richard Clark.
