February 19, 2020

On Tuesday February 18th at 1518 hours Station 38 along with Engine 76 (VA Fire Department), Ladder and Ambulance 41 (Washington Hose Co), Engine and Rescue 44 (Westwood Fire Co), Engine and Tanker 35 (Wagontown Fire Co) and 47 (Lionville Fire Co) for RIT assignment were dispatched to 1200 block of Blackhorse Hill Rd for the House Fire. Engine 76 was first to arrive and reported smoke and fire showing and quickly stretched a hand line to begin fire suppression. Ladder 41-1 arrived assumed the first due truck responsibilities completing a primary search and assisting with suppression efforts.

Battalion 43 arrived on scene established Blackhorse Hill command. On arrival, Engine 38 and Engine 35s crew assisted with checking for any additional fire spread throughout the structure and ventilating the remaining smoke. Engine 49-5 (East Brandywine Fire Co) was requested for additional water due to lack of hydrants in this section of the township but was later deemed to be not needed and was diverted to Station 38 to provide standby coverage. Tanker 35 arrived and supplied Engine 76 with additional water for the remaining suppression efforts. The fire was quickly brought under control and the assignment was held to Station 38, Station 35, Engine 76 and 41 units to complete additional overhaul. Chester County Fire Marshal’s office completed their investigation before turning the scene back over for remaining wet down and overhaul. Remaining units cleared the scene a short time later. Thank you to West Whiteland Fire Company and East Brandywine Fire Co for providing standby coverage for Caln Township while we operated on this incident.
