By Deputy Chief Donald Taylor
October 19, 2026
On Monday October 19, 2026 at 13:30 hours, the Thorndale Fire Company was dispatched along with their mutual aid partners to Turtlepoint Lane in the Fairways for a reported building fire. Squad 38 arrived on the scene reporting burnt siding and smoke showing on a two story single family townhome in the middle of the row. Crew members of the Caln Township Professional Firefighters and Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company quickly contained and extinguished a small fire that originated in a mulched flower bed keeping it from extending further into the building and adjoining residences. As a result of the quick actions of the firefighters in containing the fire, the situation was handled and held to the Thorndale Fire Company and Coatesville Fire Department. All other responding companies were recalled. The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office also responded to assist in determining the cause of the fire. As a result of the quick actions of the residents in the area noticing a problem and calling 911, the damage that was sustained to the building was kept to a minimum. We are grateful for their assistance.
As a reminder, it is imperative that everyone use caution when disposing of hot or smoldering objects such as smoking materials. These items must be fully extinguished and should never be discarded into areas such as flower beds or dry grass. The consequences could be devastating.
