It is with deep regret that Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Past Chief David Aberts. Chief Aberts was a lifetime member of Thorndale Fire Company where he held many positions since his start in 1976, including one of the longest tenures as Fire Chief from 1995 through 2010.

During his tenure as Fire Chief, he was instrumental in helping the company grow in stature and the services provided to Caln Township. Chief Aberts was able to secure funding for several new pieces of apparatus and led Thorndale in the early 2000’s to obtaining nationally recognized Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications as a company. This training endeavor continues today.

Chief Abert’s had a huge passion for the fire service and loved serving the residents of Caln Township. Chief Aberts was mentor and a friend to many and will be missed by all! Our thoughts and prayers are with the Aberts, Groff and Manstrelli family.
