By Deputy Chief Donald Taylor
July 13, 2025

Sunday July 13th proved to be a busy morning for Thorndale Fire Company and its members. At approximately 09:00 AM station 38 was dispatched along with MICU 146-5 and Engine 46-2 to the intersection of Bondsville Road and G.O. Carlson Blvd for an auto accident with entrapment. Rescue 38 responded and upon arrival found a two vehicle accident with one vehicle laying on it's drivers side with two people still in the vehicle. Responding members quickly stabilized the vehicle and began removing the windshield to gain access to the occupants and remove them from any further harm. Both occupants were removed and evaluated by the EMS crew for injuries. One patient was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Traffic 38 responded and closed G.O. Carlson at Thornridge until Caln Police finished their investigation and the vehicles were removed from the accident scene.

Shortly after returning to the station from the Bondsville Road incident the company, along with ambulance 41-4, was dispatched to the Eastbound route 30 bypass in the area of mile marker 273.3 for another auto accident. The initial report for this accident indicated the vehicle flipped over the guardrail and went over the embankment into a creek. Deputy Chief Taylor arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle accident with the vehicle over the guardrail on it's roof but was not in a creek bed. The occupant of this vehicle had self extricated and was being evaluated by the EMS crew for injuries. Rescue 38, Traffic 38, and Utility 38-1 all arrived on the scene and provided blocking of the scene to control the traffic. Pennsylvania State Police arrived and the incident was turned over to them for further investigation. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital for further assessment. Station 38 apparatus remained on the scene until the towing company was able to upright the vehicle and remove it from the ditch and over the guardrail.

Units: Rescue 38, Deputy Chief Taylor, Utility 38-1, Traffic 38
