Training and ATV Standby Keeps Volunteers and Career Staff Busy on a Saturday

By Assistant Chief Raymond Stackhouse
June 28, 2025

This past Saturday, the Delaware State Fire School brought the NFPA 2400 Standard for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) (Drones) Used for Public Safety Operations certification course to Caln Township. Township Career Firefighters and emergency responders from across the County gathered to participate in this advanced training, which was hosted by the fire company and Township. The course equips responders with critical skills in drone technology to enhance public safety operations.

While training was underway, fire company volunteers were also hard at work supporting the 2nd Annual Spackman-Davis Farm Picnic, hosted by the Caln Township Historical Commission and the Friends of Spackman-Davis Farm. Volunteers staffed the newly outfitted ATV 38, showcasing the department’s readiness and community engagement.

As Caln Township continues to grow, so too do the responsibilities and challenges faced by our emergency services. Our dedicated responders remain committed to proactive training and strategic readiness to meet the evolving needs and expectations of our residents

Units: Utility 38-1, Traffic 38, ATV 38
