Station 38 was initially dispatched for a smoke investigation outside, report of black smoke coming from unknown source on back patio. CCDES upgraded to a building fire response with reports of fire in Apartment 119, but it was unknown what was on fire.

38 Chief Officers arrived and found an exterior fire, mulch smoking along the side of the building. Deputy 38 downgraded the assignment, holding to 38 units. Engine 38 arrived on side C and deployed a booster line to extinguish fire.
