PA Fireworks Law Reminder

Fireworks can negatively impact people with disabilities, veterans with PTSD, pets and livestock.  More pets are reported missing on the Fourth of July than any other holiday because of fireworks use. Reducing the adverse effects on vulnerable people and animals is something we should all keep in mind if celebrating with fireworks.
 

The Pennsylvania State Police has provided guidance for use of fireworks which can be found here.
 
Important highlights include:

You must be over 18 to purchase, possess and use fireworksFireworks cannot be ignited or discharged on public or private property without express permission of the property ownerFireworks cannot be directed at another person, building or vehicle, andCannot be discharged within 150 feet of a building or vehicleCheck with your municipality for any applicable local ordinances 

Celebrate Safely

The U.S. Department of Transportation notes that this holiday is usually one of the deadliest on our roads. There are several options to avoid impaired driving whether it’s having a designated driver, using a ride-share service or staying overnight at your location. Please take the time to think about options and have a plan. Slow down, buckle up and drive sober.
