While visiting our granddaughters in Downingtown, we heard sirens getting closer and closer to their house. When we looked out the door, Santa was riding atop a fire truck from the Thorndale Fire Company and the firemen were running up to the excited children giving out candy canes! I hope they know how special that was to our 1 and 3 year-old granddaughters! ❤️ Thank you all, Merry Christmas and God bless you and keep you safe for the important work you do.

You always have an interesting story to share. I started watching this site after I was saved by your department in a terrible crash entrapped for an hour. The speed and professionalism has stuck with me how important you are to so many and how greatful I am to you all.
Thank you so much!

Thanks to the Thorndale Fire Crew who responded to my house. Thankful, the hardware smoke detectors where wrong to a fire. They took the time to check the house to make sure that there wasn't any fire behind the walls, they checked the attic and also that it wasn't a CO leak. The chief and his crew were awesome and much appreciated.

On March 2, 2013 I had a 'Freak Accident' when I reached for a clothes hanger in the foyer closet. I fell through the 22" x 22" open crawl space, 5 feet below. I folded up like a clothes pin. (My husband is still apologizing for leaving it open). I broke 3 Ribs, a Tibia, crushed the knee cap and tore two Meniscus's. EMT's were here within minutes after my husband called 911. Throughout the 45 minute ordeal of freeing me from the crawl space, the EMT's Exceeded my expectations and kept me from going into shock. I'm also a heart patient and have 3 bone spurs on C7 in my neck, thanks to over 44 years of Arthritis. That required a neck brace before anything else. My "rescuers" knew what they were doing. They were professional, extremely gentle attaching the neck brace and strapping me into their make-shift apparatus. It wasn't easy lifting me out of that trapped situation. I want to thank everyone who participated that day, including Washington Hose Company in Coatesville. Less than 2 months later, I have recuperated extremely well, do not need the brace or walker and do not limp when I walk, in spite of one leg now being shorter than the other :) Congratulations to you all on a job well done! Thank you again. Barbara Post

Hello to all !
My Grandfather and Father would be really proud of all of you and this site. My Grandfather was Charles [Mick] Murphy and my Father was Otto [Ottie] Anderson, former Chief. For many years, my sister and I ran the Base Station. I still remember the call letters and numbers. So MANY memories.
I am coming to the area next month and would like to stop by and visit. Would someone please get in contact with me, so we can arrange this. My sister, Brenda, will be with me and we would gladly answer any questions you have.
Great site!! Thanks, Linda Anderson

Hi, My family lived near the station until 1955 and my mother, Doris Stern Speakman, was an active member and supporter of the Thorndale Fire Company Auxiliary. Are there any historical records of the Auxiliary, it's members and activities? Thank you if you can put me in touch with someone about the era 1943-1955.

I am happy to be part of such a great organization as the TVFC. I am probably the newest memebr of the active crew and thus far the support has been oustanding! Everybody I have met has a great attitude and that is certainly something that I want to be associated with. I always see lots of hard work happening around the Twp as well as the engine room. Even when times are tough personally, the crew is there to make sure all is well. I look forward to a lifetime of involvement with Station 38, and all it has to offer. Cheers!
Awesome Web Site !!! My Daughter and her family moved to E Fallowfield Township. I would like to stop by your station and
visit some time. My fire company is similar to yours with an engine,
rescue/pumper, EMS squad truck.

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS :
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS & ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE , NOT A CREATURE WAS STIRRING NOT EVEN A MOUSE
ALL THE MEN SLEPT IN THEIR BEDS AS DREAMS OF A WHITE X-MAS FILLED THEIR HEADS
WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE ROSE SUCH A CALTTER THE MEN RAN TO THE WINDOWS TO SEE WHAT WAS THE MATTER
WHAT DID THEIR EYES DID SEE BUT A BIG SLED PULLED BY 8 TINY REINDEER
IT WAS AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN & CAME IN THROUGH THE BAY DOORS
DON'T BE SCARED THE ANGEL SAID I COME TO BRING YOU SPECIAL BLESSINGS & GOOD CHEER
IN RETURN FOR ALL YOU , GOD HAS OFFERED A SPECIAL PRAYER FOR YOU
IN THE SUMMER HEAT & THE DARK OF NIGHT YOU RUSH TO RESPOND & HASTEN TO ASSIST WITHOUT EVEN THINKING "WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME ?"
YOU GIVE FROM THE HEART & DEDICATED TO THE JOB
TO SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY & HELP YOUR FELLOW MAN
WHEN THE ALARM BELL RINGS & THE SIRENS WAIL
MAY GOD & ALL THE ANGELS RIDE WITH YOU ON EACH & EVERY ALARM
SO YOU ALL MAY RETURN TO THOSE WHO MATTER MOST
JUST LIKE THAT THE ANGELWAS CLEAN OUT OF SIGHT AS IT HAD MANY MORE HOUSE TO VISIT
AS THE ANGEL TOOK OFF WE COULD HER IT SAY
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL & TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT
DEDICATED IN HONOR OF ALL THOSE LOST IN THE LINE OF DUTY & THOSE SERVING TODAY .
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
