By Photographer/Fire Police Officer Mark Walsh
November 28, 2016

On 11/28/16 at 0206hrs Stations 41,43,76, 38 for the Engine and Rescue and 37 were dispatched to the 700blk of Coates St in the City of Coatesville for the house fire. Initial reports were of a heater on fire not contained and the occupants were evacuating. Coatesville PD arrived a short time later and reported heavy smoke showing from the residence. As Ladder 41 was pulling up PD advised they now had fire showing. Ladder 41 arrived and confirmed they had heavy fire showing from the front of a 1 story single family dwelling and had the hydrant right out front. Engine 43 arrived next and crews from 41/43 stretched an 1 3/4 handline into the dwelling.

Engine and Rescue 38 made the response along with Engine 76 and 2 Engines from 37. As those crews began to arrive they assisted the City crews with pulling a secondary 1 3/4 handline, performing roof operations, searching the residence and pulling ceiling to check for any hidden fire. Crews had the fire under control in less then 30 minutes. The Fire Marshal's were requested to the scene as well as Station 27 (Cochranville) for the Air Bank to fill the Firefighters bottles.

One resident was transported to a local hospital for what was believed to be smoke inhalation. Once crews cleaned up and got their trucks back in service the scene was turned over to the Fire Marshal's and Belfor who arrived to help board up the home.
